What Matters When You're 90

Recently, I've been thinking about what matters when you're 90 years old. My grandpa was recently told he has bone cancer and it has me thinking about him a lot and about what it's going to be like when I'm 90 myself.

I think what will matter to me is to leave behind my music, art and ideas.

The songs I wrote, the pictures I drew, my journal entries, photographs and even this blog. That's what I'd want to give my grandson. I imagine myself giving him a book of my brainstorming, journalling, sketches, song lyrics, music recordings and more.

Sometimes we don't share our art because we don't think it's good enough. Or we delete a song we wrote, but then it's never heard by anyone, ever again. At the very least, as a note to self.... I want to remember to SAVE it somewhere, because what you create really is the most meaningful thing you will ever do or can ever leave behind. The songs I wrote that I deleted... those are gone. Those bad recordings that weren't really very good? Those are gone too. And I really wished they were still here already. Imagine how I'll feel about them when I'm 90 years old.

What you create is cool to someone, even if you don't realize it.

If you create ideas, music and art, feel free to share it with me. I'd love to see it.
